HURRY UP AND WAIT!!!! Welcome to the unique world of the actor’s waiting room. Below are a list of do’s and don’ts for both parents and kids.  It is important for parents to understand their role in casting. Many talented kids lose out on opportunities due to pushy parents.  I hope this guideline will help in defining appropriate, and inappropriate behavior.

DO:

* Arrive 15 minutes prior to scheduled audition time

* Have extra copies of your child’s headshot, and resumes

* Dress modestly, and comfortably (parents too!!)
* Turn off cell phones and beepers

* Keep your child focused

* Be ready when they call your name

* Call your agent and let them know you made it to the casting on time, and thank them for thinking of you

* Reward your child after an audition

DON'T:

* Bring the entire family - only the perfomer and one parent should attend

* Talk loud and socialize

* Ask for feedback

* Coach your child WHILE they are auditioning

* Sell the casting director on your child

* Arrive late

* Ask them to hurry or ask how long it is going to take

* Ask if they can do it again

* Tell your child all the things they did wrong
